Ride Leader Guidelines

Thank you for showing us your favorite roads! Here are some guidelines for leading a ride.
Please contact the V.P. of Touring if you have questions.

Ride Supplies Needed

  • Cue Sheets can be helpful for your riders (recommended not required)

Before The Ride
  • Preferably ride or drive your route to check for construction/changed road conditions
  • Arrive at least 15 minutes early
  • Introduce yourself and review your route
  • Review safety rules and road courtesy
  • Every rider signs the ride sheet (keep list with you)
  • Do a head count
  • If ride cancels due to rain, please go to the start location to inform others
  • If something comes up and you can’t ride, please get a replacement

During The Ride
  • Announce road hazards
  • Leave gaps in cycling line on narrow, curving roads to allow cars to pass safely
  • Sweep for slower riders
  • On hilly rides, regroup at the top of the hill off to the side of the road
  • You are not responsible for riders that go off the front of the ride
  • Bring your ride in at the speed you posted

After The Ride
  • Hand in or mail the ride sheet to VP Touring
  • Celebrate a great ride!
